Shortcut keys can be configured by pressing the ESC key and then selecting the shortcut key settings.
Shortcut key settings: If you want to set up shortcut keys, you can select and click the row and shortcut key slot you want, and then press a button to set it immediately (to expand the top row of shortcut keys, press the F12 button).
Using the mouse to control in RO:
Traveling: Left-click on the desired spot on the ground or hold the click for continuous movement. If the area you clicked does not have a selectable path or is red, it means the area is inaccessible.
Changing the viewpoint: Hold the right click and move the mouse clockwise or counterclockwise to change the viewpoint. The camera angle will move according to the direction you rotate.
Zooming in/out: This can be done by using the mouse wheel to zoom in or out. If not using the mouse wheel, hold down the Ctrl key and right-click, then move the mouse to zoom instead. To adjust the camera's height, hold the Shift key and scroll the mouse wheel. You can also use Ctrl + Shift to lower the camera angle further.
Resetting the camera: Double right-click to reset the camera angle so that the character faces north, or hold the Shift key and double right-click to reset the camera position.
In-game chat: To converse with other players nearby, press the Enter key in the normal window and start chatting immediately.
Different channels for in-game chat:
To chat specifically within a party, type % before your message or type normally and press Ctrl + Enter.
To chat specifically within a guild, type $ or /gc before your message or type normally and press Alt + Enter.
To privately message (PM) another player, put the player's name in the small box on the left side of the chat window and then return to typing your message as usual.
To set the chat mode, left-click the bubble icon at the top right corner of the chat window.
To open a 1:1 chat window, select the player you wish to chat with.
To interact with other players in the game, right-click on them to bring up various menu options.
NPCs are non-player characters. They are not real people but characters programmed into the game. To interact with an NPC, left-click on the target NPC. Note that not all NPCs will talk.
Town Guards — These NPCs are guides and can tell the location of important places in town.
Kafra Workers — These NPCs are essential to Ragnarok Online and serve the following functions:
Storage access — Allows items to be stored.
Cart Rentals — Allows Merchant classes to rent carts.
Teleportation — Allows traveling to other cities instantly.
Saving — Allows setting a "Save Point". Using a butterfly wing will return the character to this Save Point. Also, should the character die, the player may choose to return to the Save Point.
NOTE: Some Kafra locations may not always offer all the services listed above, such as the Kafra in front of a dungeon.
